The background story is what makes this funny: The kids had just gotten out of the bath and I was trimming Carter's nails in his room while Addie was supposed to be in her room getting panties and her PJ's on. And above is how she returned. I was just snapping a pic of the outfit since I thought that was funny in itself and I said, "OK ADDIE 1, 2, 3... STRIKE A POSE!" And this is the result of the 1 picture I took. I seriously do NOT know where she got this pose striking knowledge except maybe from way back here!

NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE BLOG
Last week, this picture, had only been sent to family and a couple of close friends with the email title of NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE BLOG... but the feedback and amount of laughs received, I decided it had to have it's place in our 2010 Blog Book for future reference when we are looking for some great pictures for Addie's rehearsal dinner slide show in 25 years...

Addie's FIRST Haircut!
No expensive $30 toddler hair cut here. Over the last few months I had been noticing a bit of a "mullet" on Addie. She had these 2 tight 'cow curl' ringlets down her back. As I started paying attention, I was noticing that these specific pieces of hair were substantially longer than the other hair that was 2-3 inches shorter and it was this longer section that was constantly filled with tangles.
I just evened up the bottom a little and was pretty proud momma considering that cutting curly hair is a lot tougher than I imagined. Every time I went to cut below my fingers, the curls were all ready curled around my fingers, leaving me no option but to cut ABOVE my fingers...
So in the end, I trimmed a good 1.5 inches off of the longest strands just in the back but the great news is NO MORE TANGLES the past few days!
AND I DON'T THINK I'll have to worry about "cutting the curls off..."

The Best Conversations Happen...
...on the potty.
I don't know why it is but recently Addie has been doing everything and anything possible to delay getting in bed. She will sit on the potty forever and I noticed over the last few weeks, we have started to have some great little 2 year old conversations.
I remember my high school friend, Robyn, told me 6 months ago to post more videos of her talking... so I finally remembered to tonight... the trick is she can't know I am recording or she will purposely not say a word. Little Stinker.
I am glad I caught a few conversations like this to look back on in 30 years... Tonight's conversation started off with what she wants to be for Halloween....

Just 6 More Months Of This....
Based on my memories with Carter, the days of Addie proactively running up to me and saying, "Mama pick up!" are numbered. I can't remember Carter wanting to be carried around for no reason a few months shy of turning 3. In the last month, Addie, has wanted to be carried and hugged more than ever and I am trying to always STOP what I am doing, NO MATTER WHAT, and enjoy these moments while they last...
My babies are growing up so fast and I am committed to taking every moment in and with the help of this blog, when I am 80, I can always look back on these little memories...

Another Day, Another Swimmer In The Family!
There has been so much gushing and attention paid to Mr. Carter in the last week, that Addie reminded us tonight that we shouldn't forget about what she can do... we are simply blown away...

Could We Have Found An Answer For Addie?
After 5 months of a constant cough and the most recent sudden onset of wheezing 4 weeks ago, we along with our new pediatrician, decided it was time to take the next step and take Addie to a Allergy & Asthma specialist - Dr. Dennis Dilley.
We had our 2 hour appointment which included a 48 item skin test and the results blew us away. (This picture was taken with in the first 5 minutes... I refrained from taking it at the end of the 15 minutes of swelling before reading the test.)
After getting past the guilt of not listening our gut instinct 18 months ago, after our original ped. said allergy testing wasn't a good idea, we now know that Addie is allergic to a handful of tree & weed pollens like Lingustrum, Mesquite, Mulberry & Short Ragweed. 3 common mold spores in the air year around in our humid conditions. Cats like her mommy and dust mites (which is more than likely part of the culprit that makes her night time cough so bad in her room.) The food allergies are the part that were the most alarming, she is allergic to beef, chicken, milk, orange, rice, pecans and CHOCOLATE!!!! So we welcomed back the world of SOY MILK on the way home!
The interesting part is that as a child myself, 4-7ish, I had bad allergies and asthma and remember taking a medicine mixed in my applesauce every day. I was allergic to milk as well, and they got so bad, I even had to do a couple of years of allergy shots every week. As bad as it was, I gradually grew out of it, the asthma really only bothered me while exercising hard in middle school and high school, when I had my very first major asthma attack due to being a around a cat for the first time and jumping on a trampoline soon afterwards. As an adult, my allergies are completely gone (minus CATS.) Even this year, in March, when nearly everyone was miserable with whatever was in the air, I had no reaction. Dr. Dilley told me that many studies are being published now showing 60 percent of the children with severe allergie,s who took allergy shots as a child, grow up not to be affected as adults vs. those that didn't do shots. He said that will hopefully be what happens with Addie once she is old enough to do them.... pretty interesting. He also stated that allergies and asthma are highly genetically passed on and specifically same sex parent to same sex child, which makes sense, that Carter has had NONE of these problems.
There are 3 Asthma Risk Factors: Addie has 2 of the 3, being1. Family History (Addie has from me) 2. Positive Allergy Test to Dust Mites, Cats or Alternaria & something else (Addie has 3/4) 3. (I forgot to write down the 3rd but she didn't have this.)
As far as the game plan - with Dr. Dilley's agreement, we aren't going to go over board and dramatic and have hard wood floors installed in her room tomorrow morning (as her and Carter's rooms are the ONLY rooms in the house that aren't already hard wood) or cut the 2 protein staples in our house (chicken and beef) out. We are going to vacuum her room once a day, no more stuffed animals in bed, doctor said the curtains need to come down (which by far is the hardest part for me since they have such meaning!) and ideally, in the future, we will need to get the 10 year old carpet out of her room if the changes we make now don't make a significant improvement. We changed the 2X/day inhaler from Flovent to Advair, which is supposed to have better control for night time cough. Dr. Dilley said to continue Zyrtec on a daily basis and we are continuing the Singular for her cough, allergy and asthma control and of course CUT OUT all milk, most cheese, yogurt, ice cream, orange, pecans and chocolate and see if those changes alone, reduce the congestion, cough and upset stomach that Addie often complains about. In the last 48 hours, since these changes, we think we have already seen a significant decrease in the congestion during the day and cough at night, as it is almost non-existent during the day already. We aren't going to celebrate yet but rather take a deep breath and hope we are heading the right direction.

Since I Get Asked No Less Than 5X A Day...
I felt like it was important to document where Addie gets her super curly hair (besides my ringlets I straighten EVERY single day.) She was destined for it and had major curls from both sides! This is Blake's sister Heather...
This is the back of Blake's dad's head, Lance, and the amount of curls he has when it gets longer...
Baby girl... I hope you embrace your gorgeous curls as your Aunt Heather has and not fight them as I do! ;)

Addie In Heaven With Her 2 Baby Cousins
Addie (just turned 2) infatuated with Rose (who just turned 1.)
And of course, Addie and Cali (14 weeks old.) The next time Addie sees Cali, Cali may weigh more than Addie, so we tried to give her as much time "holding her" as possible! :)

Aunt Danielle & Addie's First Nike's!
One night last week, we got an unexpected treat from Danielle and her best friend Cheyenne. Carter got lots of basketball time in with these two basketball stars and LOVED hanging out with such cool teenagers... party pic...
One of the reasons for the visit was to deliver Addie's special ordered first pair of Nike's that were from Lolli, Pop and Aunt Danielle for Addie's 2nd birthday. It was special to have her first pair come from my dad because that is one of the most fun memories I have as a child, going to Good Sports with my dad and picking out the coolest new pair of Nike's every year!

My kids are seriously OBSESSED...
...with Easton Perkins!
So the theme 12 months ago at the lake, was Ella pulling Addie's hair... without realizing it, we had TONS of pictures of it in action. This year, Carter and Addie could not get enough quality time with the newest Perkins. These pictures were not planned, this was us just grabbing the camera as fast as we could while they were in the moment...
I am not kidding, but during the picture below, Carter was quietly asking Easton, "Will you be my best friend?"
They were both very concerned about him and many times just wanted to be sitting by him while everyone else was playing.
