It's A GIRL!!!!

We found out a couple of days after Christmas that we are having a GIRL! I screamed so incredibly loud in disbelief during the sonogram and then Blake and I both started crying. It was one of the memories in life I will never forget!

With in hours, I had an inspiration for her room. The inspiration piece is the gorgeous vertical stripe silk curtains I bought with my very first paycheck when I started with Lilly in Feb. 2004. I had this idea just pop into my head of putting raised permanent diamonds around the entire room and then painting them different colors. We will soon see how the idea looks in reality compared to what is in my head!

Christmas Day!

Christmas morning began with "Pops" coming over in the morning to open presents.
At 1 year old... your favorite thing was the boxes by far!

Then we headed over to Ya-Ya and Grandpa's for Christmas Day lunch!

(Macy and Marshall love Carter so much!)

Christmas Eve With The Brown Men!

Papa Lance and Uncle Clint came in for Christmas Eve to see us. It was so special having them here although it was just for a short time. It meant a lot to us that they made the long drive to be able to spend Christmas with Carter!

First Haircut!

I don't know if he really needed it but Blake and I were all excited about taking Carter for his very first hair cut right around his first birthday. This was the before...

During...

And the after! He was so good and loved watching the Barney video and playing with the balloons while sitting in the airplane.
So handsome!

2007 Christmas Card!

I look forward every year to Christmas cards, both receiving them from friends and family as well as coming up with a fun one for us. This idea popped into my head this summer and it took many many shots to get one. But I loved it! Merry Christmas friends and family!

Carter Meeting Santa For The First Time

At 12 months old, Carter wasn't too sure what to think about Santa for the very first time.

Finally a picture of them both smiling.

John Deere Tractor

This afternoon was Great Grandma Adelle's (Joe's mom) birthday party in Somerset, TX. You had lots of fun with Aunt Erin and playing on the family's 1949 John Deere!

Carter's 1st Birthday Party. BALLS BALLS BALLS!

Today, we celebrated Carter's 1st Birthday with our family, friends and neighbors. His birthday cake was a perfect representation of the theme of his party!
With just 12 short months under his belt, it was simple to decide what Carter loves most and "balls" it was!
I made sure he had his own cupcake to "dive" into.
Carter's friend Barrett Biggs, who is just one month younger and lives right across the street. These boys are going to have such fun growing up together.
Carter didn't quite know what was going on when we all started singing Happy Birthday to him.

Carter checking his cupcake out. Initially he was very cautious. This was his very first sweet of any kind.

Dear Carter,
I can't believe you are almost 1 year old. It feels like just yesterday we found out we were pregnant with you and here we are already with a little brother or sister on the way in just 5 short months. You have been such an amazing and good baby and have brought your dad and I even closer as we spend every day caring and loving you. We can't wait to continue our journey together and show you the world and all that it has to offer.
We love you,
Mama

Your birthday present from us, a Kettler tricycle.
