Wow, it has been over a year since we built our garden and this year it is going strong! We planted corn, a tomato plant, basil, several carrots, an artichoke, green beans, strawberries and lettuce this year back in late March!
The kids have done a great job watering it every few days and watching and learning about the way food grows. Addie has learned not to pick the pretty white flowers on the tomatoes and strawberries and Carter has learned that it is more important to water the soil and not the leaves on the plants.
About 2 months later...
We have gotten a HUGE very tasty tomato, all kinds of lettuce and green beans! The corn is looking AWESOME and you can clearly see the cobs of corn growing on each plant. The recent horrible wind and thunderstorm this week knocked down all our corn plants so we are hoping that we were able to save them.
I personally can't wait to see how the carrots turn out! I love doing this with the kids and feel as though they are learning and having fun at the same time!
